Dixons Creek Primary School was founded on June 12, 1875. It has a long history of servicing the community with education programs that are unique to a small country school. Many of the area’s most historically prominent families have attended this school, and subsequent generations continue to do so. Our children leave Dixons Creek Primary School as confident, respectful, vibrant young learners.

At Dixons Creek Primary School we strive to make the Foundation (Prep) curriculum relevant, engaging and challenging for all children.  Our 2017 Foundation teacher is Mr. Benjamin Murray who is a dedicated and passionate young teacher. We use the UK designed ‘Letterland’ program, along with language experience approaches, in the early years of schooling, to introduce phonics to the young children. The Mathematics program is taught using concrete materials that children can manipulate and problem solve with.  Science and Humanities are taught with an inquiry unit approach.  We have specialist Art, PE, Indonesian, tennis and MARC Library teachers.  These specialist teachers give the children wonderful opportunities to work with many different teachers in a small school setting. Out classroom teachers provide weekly Music lessons.

Our Foundation children have always started the school year confidently and ready to learn without the anxiety attached to shorter periods of transition offered by most schools. Our student achievement results are excellent.

We have no bullying issues at the school.  Our strong REACH values program has ensured that all children are inclusive and respectful of others.  They play in widely mixed age groups with older children taking care of the younger ones. The school grounds are just beautiful and our children enjoy creating cubby houses in the magical pine forest. The sandpit is always full of children building highways and the synthetically turfed oval is busy all year round with its lack of winter mud. Our play areas and basketball court complete the choices for children at play.

Dixons Creek Primary School offers a unique small rural school experience for families and their young children. In a world of ‘bigger is better’ many young adults feel alienated and lost. We strive to personalise our children’s education and the Year 6 graduation speeches made by our departing children show just how successful we are!

If you would like your child to attend these 2017 sessions please ring the school and book in with Kerrie McMurray on 5965 2282. It is important to make an informed choice when choosing a school and these sessions allow families to see firsthand what the school can offer.

Kind regards,

Sharon Walker
