Meet the Staff

Principal

Ms. Walker

I have been the principal at Dixons Creek Primary School since June 2003. In that time I have seen the school grow from around 22 students to a high of 104 students. Teaching is my passion and I have always felt so privileged to have a major role in the lives of the children I have taught, since beginning in 1972. In addition to a Diploma of Teaching, I have a Bachelor of Education, Graduate Diploma in Special Education, Graduate Diploma in Educational Leadership, Reading Recovery Tutor and Early Years of Learning Literacy Trainer qualifications.

I am the mother of three adult children and grandmother of three. I love travelling and my favourite destinations have been Israel, Morocco and Egypt. I adore my two poodles and spend leisure time reading and learning more about interior design, child development and world history.

Teachers

Ms. Bawden

My name’s Hayley Bawden and I’m currently Teaching Grade 3/4. I came to Dixons Creek Primary in 2012 after having taught in the Warrnambool and Torquay Regions where I taught Science and Information Communications Technology (ICT) and Prep. At Dixons Creek I have been fortunate enough to teach Grade 1, Grade 1/2, Grade 2/3, Grade 4/5 and Grade 2. I adore our little school and feel blessed everyday coming here! Outside of school I enjoy playing sports, such as netball, travelling, painting, playing music and photography. At school I am quite well known for my love of animals, with my dog Angus often at my heel and turtle Franklin in my classroom. I also have 2 ducks and four chickens at home.

Mrs. Hull

Hi, my name is Amanda Hull.  Dixons Creek Primary School has been a significant part of my life since 2003 when my oldest daughter began her schooling there.  I have worn a number of different hats over the years and have now been teaching Art there since 2011.  We all enjoy a very creative, colourful and often messy time in the art room and I love giving the children these opportunities.  I live locally with my husband and our four children who keep us very busy.  In any spare time I might happen upon, I enjoy keeping myself fit, reading, gardening, watching our children play sport and spending time with family and friends.

Hello, my name is Kylie Schabel and this is my second year of teaching at DCPS.  I am excited to be working with the grade 5/6’s and hope to make 2017 a fantastic year for my class and their families.  I am a graduate teacher, however, I’ve had many years of IT industry experience working for IBM and CSC.  I am the proud mother of three children aged 15, 11 and 10 with the two youngest attending Dixons Creek Primary too.  I live locally in the valley and outside of school I enjoy travelling, playing tennis and cake decorating.
